To begin with, we will only be reopening St Christopher's for individual, private prayer. This will allow us to ensure that all of the precautions and social distancing measures are in place, and that everyone can be kept safe. In addition to this, the building works are continuing at St Thomas of Canterbury. Please be patient, this will be a slow process! Opening times:St Christopher's will be open: TUESDAY 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. THURSDAY 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. SATURDAY 4.30 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. SUNDAY 11.00 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. If these times have to change, due to unforeseen circumstances, we will advertise this on Facebook and the church doors. |
What to expect when you visit St CHristopher's...Every church building will look very different from when you last visited at the end of March, before the lockdown began. There are now one-way systems, signage, social distancing measures, and restricted areas, just to name a few. But, please don't let this put you off coming to pray quietly before the Blessed Sacrament. There will be a warm welcome awaiting you! |
To be clear though, there is NO expectation from the Church that anyone should visit a church at this time and there is certainly a requirement that those who are shielding, who are in vulnerable category, and those who have any Covid 19 symptoms DO NOT visit
Things you need to know about visiting:1) Only visit if it is safe for you to do so. 2) We have space for up to 7 individuals in the church at any one time. 3) If the church is ‘full’ please be prepared to wait outside (think weather!) or in cars until called forward. 4) The church toilet will remain closed at all times. 5) The door and windows of the church will remain open during opening times so please wrap up warm. 6) There will be volunteers on duty to ensure everyone's safety at all times. You must follow their guidance. 7) You will need to use hand sanitiser, keep social distancing, follow a one-way system round the church and sit in designated areas. 8) Those under 16 must be accompanied by an adult when visiting our church. As I began by saying, some will want to visit and others won’t want to, or won't be able to at the present time. Please in charity respect one another's decision. |
